Repairs

The importance of product life cycle beyond purchasing is becoming increasingly important to consumers. We have made hat refurbishment and repairs a pillar of our customer offering for over a decade.

We offer a range of services from steaming and clearing hats to patching panama crowns. We also offer “cosmetic” refurbishments such as changing external decorative ribbons to Fedora and Trilby styles which can bring new life to a well loved hat.

Please see below for a list of repairs that we undertake with guideline prices (not including the cost of return postage). Please contact us so that we can get in touch to discuss your repair.

 Simple repairs - £30 per task (bronze)
  • Replace decorative (external) hat band/ribbon
  • Stretch up one size – hats and caps
  • Reduce down one size – hats and caps
  • Cap repair such as stitch on lining
  • Freshen up with steam clean and brush
  • Attach new  (pre-made) lining
Mid-range repairs – £50 - £65 per task (silver)
  • Attach double ribbon hat band
  • Re-block crown or brim of hat – same size
  • Top hat/bowler hat external decorative band
  • Cut down felt brim  – cut edge without binding
Top-range repairs – £100 per task (gold)
  • Patch crown straw/panama/felt
  • Re-bind brim edge (excluding bowlers and top hats)
  • Replace sweatband – grosgrain/petersham/fabric
  • Stretch hat more than one size up (removing sweatband)
  • Reblock crown and brim
Adjustments Ladies Occasion hats - £30 per task
  • Add/replace hairband
  • Add comb/elastic
Ladies' Day Package - £60
  • Add/replace hairband,
  • Add comb and/or elastic
  • Refresh and steam
  • 1 x hat pin (gold or silver)

We have a range of hairbands, combs and elastics for you to choose from. Please send us a picture of your hat and we can advise which attachments will work best.

What happens when you contact us about a repair?

We will ask you to send us pictures of your hat so that we can assess its condition and the work to be undertaken. We will give you a  quote and you can decide if you would like to go ahead with the repair. 

If you decide to go ahead with a the repair we will let you know where to send your hat.

  • We recommend that you send it to us using a signed for/trackable/insured form of delivery.
  • You should ensure that you pack your hat securely in a box that is large enough to accommodate it along with sufficient packaging to protect it while it is in transit. Please allow up to 4 weeks turn around for your repair.
